Tribes with the highest population in Kenya. Days are running and August 2022 is approaching. Many politicians are eyeing on the presidential seat. To compete favorably, politicians are focusing on how to gain more supporters.

According to the previous years, politicians use specific strongholds to gain the presidential seat. Here, we will let you know the numbers of different tribes according to statistics.
The population of different tribes according to 2019 population and housing census.
The Kikuyu are the first in according to the 2019 record. This community has up to 8.14 million people. The kikuyus are popular in my Kenya region.
The second largest community are the Luhyas, making a total of 6.82 million people. Which is very high, closer to kikuyus. The luhyas are found in Western Kenya.
The third most populous are the Kalenjins, adding up to 6.35 million. Kalenjins cover the rift valley part of Kenya. The Kenya rift valley has large tracts of land to accommodate this high number of kalenjin tribe.
The above three tribes add up to almost half of the countries population (44.7%). Kenya has a total of 47.6 million citizens.
After the Kalenjins, Luo are the next populous community, totaling to 5 million individuals. They are found in Nyanza Kenya.
Then the kamba standing at 4.6 million, followed by the somalis and Kisiis, both at 2.7 million.
Other communities are the Mijikenda, totaling to 2.4, then Meru at 1.9 million and finally the Maasai at 1.1 million.
Those are the tribes with highest population according to the population and housing census held in 2019. According to that statistics, the first three tribes makes closer to half of Kenya’s population. That data is useful in national planing during the allocation of resources.
